TextNow was founded in 2009 and by 2010 it had 1 million users. They added 500 thousand users in 2011 to make their total active users 1.5 million. TextNow managed to hit 100 Million users in 2017. In 2014, TextNow patented an elastic calling technology that seamlessly switches between cellular networks and Wi-Fi networks.
