Access Point Name (APN) is the name of the gateway in a 5G, 4G, LTE, 3G, or any other network. It is responsible for connecting users to another network, the public internet for this case. Optus just like any other carrier requires Access Point Name settings to be set in order to access the internet.
To connect to the internet without any issue, ensure that you are within network coverage and have an active Optus data plan then set the settings as shown below.
Optus APN Internet Settings for iPhone
For an iPhone or any other iOS device, navigate to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network then input the settings below:
- APN: yesinternet
- Username: (Leave blank)
- Password: (Leave blank)
Optus APN Internet Settings for Android Devices
Navigate to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names for Samsung devices and for other Android devices navigate to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > Select SIM > Access Point Names then input the settings below:
- Name: Optus
- APN: yesinternet
- Username: (Not set – Leave it blank)
- Password: (Not set – Leave it blank)
- Proxy: (leave it blank – not set )
- Port: (Leave it blank – not set)
- Server: (leave it blank )
- MMSC: ( Leave it blank )
- MMS Proxy: (leave blank)
- MMS Port: (Not Set)
- MCC: 505
- MNC: 02
- Authentication type: PAP
- APN type: (default,supl)
- APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
- Bearer: (Unspecified)
- Mobile virtual network operator: (none )
Save the settings then select Optus as the active APN. Restart your device for the settings to take effect immediately.
To allow your device to select the best network available, navigate to Settings > Network and Internet > Internet > Settings > Automatically Select Network then restart your device.
